i moved to Australia for university just as lock-down began, i can say confidently it was absolutely terrible and and it's still so incredibly difficult. loans grew to encompass living expenses in my absence of work and now I'm staring down this massive number while trying really hard in online school, which is so incredibly difficult especially for someone with adhd like myself. i finally have a job and things are getting better, i just hope this never happens again. i feel as if I've been completely destroyed.

Dear Princess Grey, I have learned that even my "small" city is a lot bigger when you're walking around it, rather than driving around it. Great for my audio book listen list, which has (had) three 12 hour listens and one 16 hour & 48 minute listen, less great for my aching legs. 20km on foot goes by a lot quicker when your mind is occupied elsewhere. To summarise; I gained perspective. If life is about the journey then you should walk it, to make it as long as possible. Signed, Shades, a faithful Greybot

Eh I think he's wrong on this one looking back at all the damage we have done to our economy for a virus that kills mostly old people while we locked down the young and not the old it seems more like a mistake. Now I know what your going to say, really you would take money over lives, however as people with access to the internet we forget that while we might have to change our diets to cheaper foods due to lack of funds other have to change there diet to no food.

I would argue that death isn't -infinity. Death being negative infinity implies there is nothing worse however I would argue some forms of pain are worse then death, for instance I'd rather die then lose my limbs putting death at -1 billion and loss of limbs at -2 billion

The once in a millennia plague argument seems relatively silly when you consider how far science has advanced since the black death for example. Seems unlikely that there will ever be a natural plague that causes similar damage again. No doubt bio-weapons could cause large scale damage, but if it doesn't kill fast and in the millions, there will be a cure or prevention that will save the rest.

@rphb that was the reaction to people refusing to do the bear minimum, not the goal. things are returning to normal here in the US and with every passing day this idea that masks and lockdown existed to control people looks more and more bizarre in hindsight.

@Just_Your_Local Guard My point is, the lockdowns, the mask, the stimulus, and quite frankly the martial law in some cases, were the goal, the virus the excuse they needed to do all of these things. The thing about the introduction of tyranny is, that if the people don't accept it, it cannot happen, as soldiers and police officers will always be the minority. That is why they need an excuse, and they need to make people afraid. What most people misunderstand about the concept "rule thought fear" is that it is not about people fearing their government, no government can survive long if it makes itself into the boogeyman. The boogeyman always have to be something else, something external, ideally something ethereal. Ethereal refers to something that can't be touched and can't be seen, and something that the people need the authorities to even know exist. Now that is the perfect boogeyman, and that can justify just about anything. Ye'll see, the third wave of mayor lockdowns will start in the fall. We already have an equivalent of the gestapo yelling "Papiren bitte" anything we have to go anywhere, even if it is just to the local pub.

I wouldn't say a joke, but I do think the government way of dealing with it made me very skeptical about it. Like how some things they turned blind eye but yet others were enforced with iron fist.

@From 2050 Here is a sad story. A young man in my town, the owner of a local bikeshop, just died. He had been tested positive and following the official recommendation had gone into self isolation. His family didn't come to see him, they just talked to him on the phone and put food outside. No one were with him, no one saw how sick he had become, until they found his copse. If people hadn't been so hysterical. If the family had followed their common intuition, rather than the "experts" recommendations, they would have seen how sick he were and put him in a hospital. People die from untreated influenza all the time. That is why it is so important to never be alone when you are sick. I had a really nasty flu a few years ago that required a hospital stay. If not for my mother, that insisted on calling the doctor when she saw me, I would have died too. Instead I got better after a single night in the hospital. That is how little it takes. Hysteria kills.

JUST 1 atom on the Z axis. as there is only 1 on the Z axis, there in NO Z axis (wich is obvius, because EVERYONE KNOWS what 2D is, but still) so paper, is not TRUE 2D.

in christianity death means going to heaven, life means continue living (duuhh). Both is a blessing either way. what im saying is that (even if you're not christian) the best way to live is to enjoy and not worry about death. If you fear doing things because you're afraid to die well you'll never go anywhere, you kinda become the thing you fear most. You become dead. Use this pandemic as an opportunity, an opportunity to stop reading this comment. Go out ther- no dont go out there. Get out of your chair or bed and stop being dead.
